AAC and Immigration Raids Preparedness
Children in undocumented families— many of them U.S. citizens- face real emotional and educational struggles. Fear of deportation, toxic stress, and family separation can impact their mental health, development, and school success. As AAC providers, we can do several things to mitigate these issues and support our AAC users and their families affected by the current anti immigration policies. Let’s advocate for safety, stability, and support for every child. The following piece talks about resources to help AAC users and their families.

AAC Emotional Competence Pt.1
Adressing and teaching emotional competence is one of the most challenging competencies for AAC learners. There are many reasons for this. However, one of the biggest reasons is that many students don’t get enough aided language stimulation to truly understand emotions.

I want to share my insights on the terms “presume competence” and “presume potential.” Both concepts hold significant value, and we cannot fully embrace one without acknowledging the other.
